AVD (Arches, Vaults and Domes) and Stone Masonry
Modern buildings are predominantly constructed using reinforced concrete, structural steel, and prestressed concrete systems. While these materials enable rapid construction and long spans, they are generally designed for a service life of 50–100 years, depending on environmental exposure, construction quality, and maintenance.
In contrast, many historic masonry structures have remained in service for several centuries, with some exceeding a thousand years. Iconic examples such as the Pantheon, St. Peter's Basilica, Hagia Sophia, and the Taj Mahal demonstrate the remarkable durability of compression-based masonry construction.
Inspired by these enduring structures, NDVPL specializes in the engineering of Arches, Vaults, and Domes (AVD) using stone or brick masonry with Natural Hydraulic Lime (NHL) mortar. Our approach combines traditional construction principles with modern structural analysis to create sustainable, durable, and maintenance-friendly masonry structures. Stability is achieved through geometry and compression rather than steel reinforcement, resulting in structures capable of exceptional longevity.
